William Rohlfing, Jr., age 87, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 5:53 A.M. on Friday, September 26, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia, Illinois. He was born on March 10, 1927 in Centralia, Illinois, the son of William and Jeanette (Dykstra) Rohlfing, Sr. He married Laurita "Rita" Rapp on September 1, 1944 in Morganfield, Kentucky and she survives in Centralia, Illinois.
In addition to his "Angel" of 70 years, Mr. Rohlfing is survived by his son William Wayne Rohlfing of Centralia, Illinois, daughter Debbie Jones and husband Chris of St. Peter, Missouri, grandson Jason Peters and girlfriend Julie of St. Charles. Missouri, 6 nieces Vicki Harrington and husband Bob, Du Ann Bates and husband Jim, Sherry Jett and husband Dean, Rhonda Rhodes and husband Joseph, Tammy Cook and husband Sam, Jr. and Dawn Fowler and husband Gary and several great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rohlfing was preceded in death by his parents, sister Wilma Hahn and brother-in-law Duane Hahn.
Mr. Rohlfing was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church in Centralia, Illinois. He enjoyed working outside doing his yard work. He liked to watch his television. He cherished the time he spent with his family, and he was considered a caring husband, father, grandfather and uncle. Mr. Rohlfing was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country during World War II from June 6, 1945 until November 21, 1946.
Mr. Rohlfing was an auto body man. He has lived most of his life in the Centralia area.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Pastor Richard Criner and his niece Rhonda Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia, Illinois with military honors accorded by members of the Centralia American Legion Post 446 and Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 2055. Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Rohlfing's memory to the New Harmony Baptist Church and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
