Alfreda Young Obituary

Alfreda Young, 75, of Centralia passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. She was born on April 15, 1945 the daughter of Henry and Helen (Taylor) Leake in Centralia. Alfreda married Paul Young Sr. in 1969, and shortly after they moved to Los Angeles California. To that Union there was a son, Paul Young Jr., that Union was later dissolved.
Survivors that will remember Alfreda's commitment to her family and her community include her son, Paul Young, Jr. (Tina) Young of San Bernadino CA; grandchildren, Renahy Levi (Lon), Alana Young, Brandon, and Leah all of Torrence CA; great-grandchild, Leo Levi of Torrence CA; sister, Terri Bates of Centralia.
Alfreda was preceded in death by her parents, mom, Helen Taylor, dad, Henry Leake; her son Brett Alan Young; her sisters Naomi Marie Brown Pamela Sue Taylor; two brothers, Henry Thomas Leake III, and Leonard Moose Taylor.
Alfreda Young attended Centralia elementary school, Lincoln elementary, and Centralia High School graduating in 1963. She attended Rend Lake Nursing School in Mount Vernon Illinois where she received her license practical nursing certification. She attended Trade Tech College in Los Angeles California where she furthered her education and became a registered nurse. Alfreda accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Second Baptist Church. In her later years she served on the health and wellness Ministries doing blood pressures for the church. She dedicated her life to God, her family, and her nursing career. She lived a lavish lifestyle, and was very down-to-earth and humble.

Alfreda had a compassionate heart and a beautiful gift of caring for others. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, loving to share with others how special her grandchildren were to her. She had a competitive nature and enjoyed watching sporting events and cheering on her team to victory. Alfreda had a loving, kind, supportive spirit that will live on in all those she knew and loved.
A celebration of life service for Alfreda will be held Sunday January 24, 2021 following Sunday services at Second Baptist Missonary Church of Centralia.
