Alice Pacey Obituary

Alice Lavon Pacey, 91, of Centralia passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, at Centralia Manor. She was born on September 16, 1933, the daughter of Roger and Alice (Kingdon) Pacey in Washburn, IL.

Survivors include her brother, Richard “Dick” Pacey of Centralia, IL her sister-in-law, Elinor Pacey of Kirkland, IL; her nephews, Steven Pacey, Jim Pacey, David Pacey, Duane Pacey, Bob Garber, and Kevin Garber; her niece Laura Ricketts; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Alice Pacey; her sister, Barbara Garber and husband Arthur; her brother, Donald Pacey; her sister-in-law, Jane Pacey; her nephews, Brian Pacey, and Michael Pacey; and her great friend, Charlotte Dorris.

Alice’s life was full of music, starting with piano, sticks, and alto horn in grade school and moving to the cornet and singing in high school. She had a passion for music which was an apparent presence throughout her life. Alice was a genius when it came to numbers, which made her well suited for her occupation in the banking industry. She worked at various banks in northern Illinois over the years. Alice worked for a tax accountant in California where each tax season would find Alice working diligently to assist in the preparation of the client’s taxes. She was proud of her home in North Carolina, thoroughly enjoying the outdoors, spending much time in the timber, and yard planning and planting to bring character and color to her home. She later moved to Texas and quickly embraced being a Texan, falling in love with the state. She truly enjoyed every aspect of travel, grateful to have driven in the beauty of all 50 states. California especially would always fill her heart with many wonderful memories of her time there and the friendships she shared. Alice was an avid reader, loved horses, and appreciated her life filled with good health, good family and friends, good food, and good fortune. Alice was of the Christian faith and attributed her abundant life to her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A celebration of life service will be held by the family at a later date. Burial will be at Linn Mount Vernon Cemetery in Washburn, IL.
