The Lord said, “It’s time to be together forever”. Betty Sullens, 91 of Patoka passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024. Born to Charles and Ethel Jackson on January 21, 1933. She married Dean Edward Sullens on December 2, 1951, in Pickett, Arkansas and he preceded her in death on April 3, 1995. From this union, four kids, five grandkids, numerous great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids were born.
Survivors that will remember Betty’s love for her family include her son, Les Sullens of Vernon; her daughters, Teresa Sullens of Patoka, Brenda Andrews and husband Veryl of Salina, KS, and Sarah Sullens of Salem; grandchildren, Brandon Sullens and wife LeAnna of Ramsey, Jamie Blackwell and husband Jeremy of Shelbyville, Jory Landes of Kinmundy, Josh Sullens and wife Jennifer of Alma, Jeremy Sullens and wife Cindy of Tucson, AZ; 12 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Kleiboeker, Helen Jett and husband Beryl, and Agnes Gries and husband Dave; and numerous nephews, nieces, extended family, members and friends.
Along with her beloved husband of 42 years, Dean Sullens, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Sullens; sister, Norma Jackson; brother, Robert Jackson; her in-laws; a sister-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka with Pastor Shannon Bopp officiating. Interment will follow at Martin Cemetery in rural Alma, where Betty will be laid to rest beside her husband. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation time from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the funeral home in Patoka. The family requests that if Betty had gifted you something she crocheted, to please bring it to her visitation for everyone to see. Memorials may be made in Betty’s honor to Patoka Ambulance Service and/or Martin Cemetery.
