Bill Quick, Sr. Obituary

Bill Gene Quick, Sr. 82, of Odin passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. He was born on December 23, 1938 the son of Porter Wilson and Irene Goldie (Yardley) Quick in Glenridge. He married the love of his life, Mary Berning on August 17, 1999, at Sandoval Baptist Church and she survives him in Odin.

Along with his devoted wife of 21 years, Mary Quick, Bill is survived by his beloved family, children, Bill Quick, Jr. of Sandoval, Jeff (Luana) Quick of Dixon, Elizabeth Ann (Mark) Summers of Amboy, Beckie (Larry) Herzog of Amboy, and Mike Quick of Dixon; 13 precious grandchildren; 13 cherished great-grandchildren; brother, Gary (Ruth Ann) Quick of Centralia; sisters, Ruth (Ray) Wibur of Woodlawn, and Anna (Darrel) Speiser of Sandoval; bonus children, Robert (Jessica) Krein of Centralia, Terri Krein (Curtis Finley) of Odin, Tosha Krein (Chad Wilderman) of Centralia;  9 bonus grandchildren; and special neighbor friends, Doug and Jeanette Davis, Brenda Wutzler, and June Garren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Leroy Quick

Bill valued hard work and was an amazing provider for his family. He was a loyal employee of Southern Concrete, Jim Ruple, Jim Copple, Zieglers, and Warren G. Murray Center. He was a member of the Laborer Hall Local 109. Bill was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was so happy to celebrate their 2016 World Series victory. He enjoyed fishing off the dock and deer watching. He loved to travel to Arthur, Illinois to enjoy the simple pace of Amish farm life, see the beauty of the scenery and eat their homemade meals. He like to attend auctions in search of his next treasures. Bill was a quiet man who had a huge heart for others. His grateful neighbors will remember his generosity in the way he would mow for the whole neighborhood. Bill’s kindness, gentle spirit, and friendship will be remembered fondly.
