Bob Thalman Obituary

Bob Thalman, 89, of Patoka passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Twin Willows in Salem. He was born on September 30, 1931 the son of Roy and Edith (Gerrish) Thalman in Marion County. He married Virginia S. Brumfield on December 14, 1952 in Patoka and she preceded him in death on December 28, 2001.

Survivors that will remember Bob’s helpful ways include his beloved family, daughter, Pam Crawford and husband Ron of Vernon; granddaughter, Courtney Vail and husband Rod of Iuka; great-grandson, Liam Vail of Iuka; siblings, Cecil Thalman and wife June of Patoka, and Alberta Kannady and husband Luke of Oklahoma; special friends Pat Gibson, and Max and Kathy Ehart.

Along with his wife of 49 years, Virginia Thalman, Bob was preceded in death by both his parents; and brother Leroy Thalman.

Bob was a faithful member of Patoka First Baptist Church. He was a man of action and knew the value of working hard. Bob worked as a crop adjuster for Country Companies for over 35 years. He was owner of Thalman Bus Company, running two buses for the Patoka School District. Bob was proud to provide safe travel to school for many children, and was a kind mentor to those who drove a bus for him. He liked to keep busy and enjoyed woodworking out in his garage and restoring tractors back to their original beauty. Bob spent many enjoyable days watching the skill his beloved bird dogs displayed while bird hunting. He appreciated his time spent outdoors, and the thrill of the hunt during deer season. Bob was a family man, and was proud to be a Grandpa that could be available to offer his time, and share carefully chosen words of wisdom.
