Charlotte Carson Obituary

Charlotte Louise Thomas Carson, 83, of Odin passed away Monday, February 1, 2021. She was born February 2, 1937 in Sandoval, Illinois, daughter of Catherine and Ed Thomas of Sandoval.

Charlotte is survived by her husband, George Carson, two sons, George (Sylvia) Carson, Jr. of Phoenix Arizona, Robert (Mei Ting) Carson of Gilroy, California, and a daughter Cary (Gary) Carson Spinka of Plainfield; four grandchildren, Hannah Carson, Ethan Carson, Robert Carson, and Noah Carson; and two sisters Rose Mary Jourdan of Sandoval and Edith Lefew of Cahokia.

Charlotte was preceded in death by seven siblings, Bill Thomas, Agnes (Thomas) Farthing, Margie (Thomas) Bowen, Ed Thomas, Rita (Thomas) Lusch, Joseph Thomas, and Ruth (Thomas) Perry.

Charlotte graduated from Sandoval high school in 1955 and attended Saint John’s Mercy school of nursing, graduating in 1958. She worked shortly at St. Mary’s hospital in Centralia before joining the US Air Force as a nurse, stationed at Warner Robins, Georgia. There she met her husband, Major George A. Carson of Clinton, Tennessee. They wed on August 12, 1961 and were married for 59 years. She left the service in 1963 and began her family. George served in the Air Force for 20 years and in 1979 they retired back to the Sandoval area and happily resided in rural Odin until present. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s hospital for 16 years and retired in 1996, enjoying her remaining years with George, the love of her life. Charlotte loved to quilt, crochet, and sew and loved to spend time in her garden, do canning and preserving, and enjoy pictures of her grandchildren. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality at Saint Lawrence church in Sandoval.
