B. Dean Holsapple, 89, of Odin passed away, Friday, September 26, 2025, at VA Medical Center in Marion, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on July 28, 1936, in Odin, the son of Berylie and Ruby Holsapple. He married Mary Louise Holsapple and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include his sons, Douglas (Alene) Holsapple of Stover, MO, and Gregory (Shaunta) Holsapple of Salem, IL; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Roger Holsapple, Darell Holsapple, and Danny Holsapple; sisters, Joyce (Bill) Wilmoth, and Avis (Don) Luttrell; and nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Along with his wife, Mary Louise Holsapple, Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Berylie and Ruby Holsapple; brothers, Paul Holsapple, andWinford Holsapple; sister, Ethaline Duncan son, Dale Holsapple; and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Holsapple.
Dean was a true patriot, serving his country with honor and pride in the United States Marines and later in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Centralia VFW and served as a Shriner with the Sandoval Chapter. Dean was well respected for his hard work ethic which was apparent in his work as an operator of heavy equipment and machinery. He will be lovingly remembered as a fierce protector and provider for his family. His loyalty and commitment to his country, family and friends leaves behind a lasting example for all who knew and loved Dean.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin with Apostle Gregory Holsapple officiating. Memorials may be made in Dean’s honor to Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin and will be accepted for his family at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home 234 South Elm St. Centralia, Il 62801.
