Delilah Dewitt Obituary

Delilah Ann Dewitt, 67, of Patoka, formerly of Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at her granddaughter’s home in Patoka, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on November 13, 1957, the daughter of Charles and Belva (Smith) Fulkerson in Breckenridge County, Kentucky.

Survivors that shared so many wonderful memories with Delilah include her beloved family, her daughters, Melinda (Robert Sr.) Schaaf of Patoka, and Jennifer Bittel of Kentucky; her precious grandchildren, Shirley Schaaf, Robert (Morgan) Schaaf Jr., Oma (Seth) Clayton, David Schaaf, Aaron Gambel, Misty Hedges, Jacob Smith, Jaylin McStoots, Carol McStoots, and Kolten Bittel; cherished great-grandchildren, Delilah Clayton, Roselynn Clayton, and expecting Baby Schaaf in September; and brother, Lester Faulkerson of Kentucky.

Delilah was preceded in death by her parents; her sister LaVerne Guffy; and her grandchild, Bri.

Delilah was not one bit afraid of working hard to make sure she could give a job the time and attention needed to do it right. She worked without ceasing in the tobacco fields of Kentucky, reluctantly stopping when her health prevented her from continuing. Delilah was a talented seamstress who could do intricate repair work and sew anything from scratch with expertise. Her creative side carried on to her love of arts, and crafts. She was always working on new projects, grateful for her craft room where she could keep her works and supplies at the ready. Delilah had an eye for flower arranging, placing the perfect colors and types of flowers together, making sure to incorporate her favorite color, purple. She loved to watch UFC, cheering for her favorite fighter, Scott “Mad Dog” MacGregor. Delilah will most be remembered for being a loving, supportive Nanny and Great-Nanny to her treasured grandchildren. She was so very proud of each of them and found being a part of their lives a blessing. Delilah was kind, caring and would do anything for someone in need. She lived her life for others and her family will continue her example by doing the same. Delilah was deeply loved, appreciated and will be missed by all who loved her.

A private celebration of life service will be held. The burial will be at Cloverport Cemetery in Kentucky. Memorials may be made to Day Macz Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses by visiting Delilah’s obituary on the funeral home’s website and selecting the donation tab or by sending to 234 S.
