Ed Armistead Obituary

Paul Edwin (Ed) Armistead, age 77, died at Carlyle Healthcare and Senior Living on October 3rd, 2025. He was born in Harrisburg, IL on January 19, 1948. He was the 5th son of William and Beulah (House) Armistead. Ed attended school in Harrisburg and graduated from Southern Illinois University. 
Following graduation from SIU, Ed taught school in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana for a few years.


Ed moved to Centralia in 1989 to be nearer his sister. While living in Centralia, he was employed in various positions including being a janitor at Centralia Public Library and the CRC.


Ed has been a resident of Carlyle Healthcare and Senior Living for the past ten years, following a fall in his apartment. He had become loved and well cared for by all the staff there.


Ed was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Robert, James, Richard, and Kenneth; a sister, Jane Pacey; and a nephew, Brian Pacey.


He is survived by brother-in-law, Richard Pacey of Centralia; two sisters-in-law, Alba Armistead, and Maurine Armistead of California; a niece, Kathy Lowther of Kansas; and three nephews, Steve Pacey of Missouri, and James Armistead , and Andrew Armistead of California.
