Ethelene Duncan

Ethelene Duncan, 92, of Odin passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. She was born on January 4, 1929 the daughter of Bearlie and Ruby Mae (Gibbs) Holsapple in Odin. She married Delmas Duncan in February of 1946 and he preceded her in death on July 29, 2017.

Survivors include her children, John Duncan and wife Teresa of Centralia, and Larry Duncan of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Dean, Danny, Roger, Darrell and Delmas Holsapple; sisters, Avis Luttrell, and Joy Wilmoth; and several nieces and nephews. 

Along with her husband, Delmas Duncan, Ethelene was preceded in death by both her parents; brother, Pete and Winefer Holsapple; and her daughter, Diane Thompson. 

Ethelene worked at the Dress Factory and J.C. Penny in Centralia. She had a talent for playing shuffleboard and shared her love for the game with her husband, Delmas. Ethelene enjoyed taking a twirl on the dance floor in her younger years and was an amazing dancer. She enjoyed playing bingo. 

Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia is privileged to be assisting the family of Ethelene Duncan with arrangements. A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 26, 2021 at Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia. Those in attendance will be asked to wear a mask and social distancing protocol will be requested. Memorials may be made in Ethelene’s honor to Shriners Children’s Hospital and will be accepted for the family at the funeral home.
