Eva Gallatin Obituary

Eva Jane Gallatin, 93, of Boulder passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024, at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. She was born on March 3, 1931, the daughter of Harless and Opal (Adams) Bright in Clinton County. She married James J. Gallatin on August 24, 1947, in Carlyle and he preceded her in death.

Survivors who will remember Eva’s generosity and compassion for others include her beloved family, her children, Rose Frevert of Pekin, IL, Nancy Groff of Odin, IL, John E. Gallatin and Peggy of Princeton, KY, Teresa Garrison of Ossian, IN, and Jo Lynn Braddy of Carlyle, IL, and Sharon Braddy of Boulder, IL; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Cindy Gallatin of Prairie du Recher, IL; loving nephew, Allen Bright, and loving nieces, Kathy Bright Newkirk, and Patty Wiebler-Tillman

Along with her husband, James Gallatin, Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Harless and Opal Bright; her brother, Duane Bright; son, James Denis Gallatin; and sons-in-law, Stephen Frevert, and Larry Groff.

Eva was a lady of great faith and a member of Diamond Springs Baptist Church, where her kind words were an encouragement to her church family. She was a loyal employee, working for Quipps in Carlyle, Boulder Café, serving as a caregiver, as well as working on a chicken farm. Eva was quite at home in the kitchen, cooking enough delicious, homemade food to feed a crowd. She enjoyed quilting and embroidery, creating beautiful quilts for family and friends to treasure. Eva enjoyed playing games with family and friends, especially rummy and Yahtzee. She also loved playing Bingo and quilt Bingo. Eva loved her family with all her heart and time spent with them was always the highlight. She was a wonderful, loving Mother and Grandmother. Eva was gentle and kind, loved and protected her family fiercely, shared her faith by example, and enjoyed all the beauty in the simple things in life. Eva will be deeply missed by all who dearly loved her.
