Geneva Roethemeyer Obituary

Geneva Diane Roethemeyer, 79, of St. Louis, formerly of Centralia, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021. She was born on July 15, 1941 the daughter of Harl and Eileen (Purdue) Harris in Wayne County, IL. She married Horland Roethemeyer and they later divorced. 


Survivors that will remember the love Diane had for her family include her beloved daughters, Jill DeAtley and husband Mark Dover, KY, Kathy Savage-Babb and husband Woody of St. Louis, Karen Ruff and husband Richard of North Richland Hills, TX; precious grandchildren, Andrea Calland, Heather Ratliff and husband Scott, Ashley Goodreau and husband Gabe, Tasia Babb, Daniel Ruff, Alek Savage; cherished great-grandchildren, Elyana, Savana, Andersen “A.J.” Calland, Anna Ratliff, and Warren James Ratliff; and sister-in-law, Gerry Kratzner.
Diane was preceded in death by both her parents; and sisters, Marian Stevenson, and Carolin Kiger.


Diane was a member of the Calumet Street Christian Church in Centralia. She was a loyal employee of Watwood Heavener as a secretary. Diane was proud to be a former “Red Hat Lady” and appreciated the friendship she made with fellow members. She had a fighting spirit and was an amazing example of a survivor, receiving the gift of a heart transplant #343 in October 1999 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. Diane will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed.


Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia is privileged to be assisting the family of Diane Roethemeyer with arrangements. A celebration of life service will be held at noon Monday, May 17, 2021 at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. A visitation time to offer condolences to the family will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2021 at the funeral home, where those in attendance will be asked to wear a mask and the number of people in the funeral home at one time will be limited. Memorials may be made in Diane’s honor to the Heart Transplant Association P.O. Box 882 High Ridge, MO 63049.
