Glennys Hollingsead Obituary

Glennys Hollingsead, 85, of Centralia passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon. She was born on December 23, 1937, the daughter of Don Leonard and Ruby Darlene (Davis) Merrill in Payson, Utah.  She married Raymond Hollingsead in Salt Lake City and he preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 2007.

Survivors who will hold dear memories of Glennys include her beloved family, her children, Don Hollingsead of Georgia, Glen Hollingsead of Carlyle, and Lujean Hollingsead of Centralia; her grandchildren, Helen Hollingsead, Leslie Gambill, Jennifer Sprehe, Donna Hollingsead, Tyler Hollingsead, Liz March, and J.D. Hollingsead; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter; and her daughter-in-law, Patricia Hollingsead.

Glennys was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Darlene Barker; and her sons, John Hollingsead, and Lenny Hollingsead; daughter Sue Hollingsead, and grandchildren G.R. Hollingsead, and Jordan Hollingsead.

Glennys had a passion for reading and love of books, which was the perfect combination for her career, working for the Centralia Public Library for 24 years and the Centralia Correctional prison library for 8 years. One rarely saw Glennys without a western or fiction book in hand. She was so interested in games and stretched her creative side with R.P.G. games. Whenever Rachel Ray was cooking up something in the kitchen on her show, everything had to come to a halt, while Glennys stopped to watch what her next recipe would be. She enjoyed watching forged in fire, on television and marveling at the creations the contestants made. Glennys’ Morman faith was important to her and evident in her everyday life. Glennys was extremely intelligent, a person who put people at ease, and a lovely lady who loved her family with all her heart.

A celebration of life service will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Glennys’ honor to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and will be accepted for the family at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia.
