Glenola “Babe” Tate, 103, of Shattuc passed away at 5:59 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. She was born on November 1, 1917, in rural Shattuc, the daughter of Edward and Dena (Kramlick) Just. She married Elmer Lee Tate on October 2, 1939, and he preceded her in death on July 18, 1973.
Mrs. Tate is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Wilson Just and Julius Just; sisters Gladys Orrell, and Gearleen Crane; stepchildren Elouise Wilson, and Max Lee Tate.
Mrs. Tate was a faithful member of the Sandoval United Methodist Church. Her first job was as a waitress at the White Kitchen in Sandoval. With the outbreak of World War II, she and her husband worked at the small arms plant in St. Louis. Since then, she worked many years at the Centralia dress factory and St. Mary’s Hospital. She worked until the age of 82. Babe especially enjoyed her flowers, playing cards, quilting, and gardening. She leaves a multitude of friends. Her home was always open, and she never met a stranger.
Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval is privileged to be assisting the family of Glenola Tate with arrangements. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2021, at Sandoval United Methodist Church with Pastor Ken Hayden officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in rural Sandoval. Friends are welcome to a visitation time from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval. Memorials may be made in Glenola’s honor to Sandoval Methodist Church and Sandoval Fire Department and will be accepted for the family at the funeral home.
