Henry Martin Obituary

Henry Martin, 80, of Sandoval passed away Thursday, July 24, 2025, at his home. He was born on August 18, 1944, in Centralia, the son of Blanchard and Christina (Niepoetter) Martin. He married Barbara Szczepanski and she preceded him in death on December 29, 2021.

Survivors include his son, Dale (Susan) Niepoetter of Albers; step-children, Debbie (Derrell) Roeder, Cheryl (Kim) Houser, and Angie (John) Foster, Michael Borowik; five grandchildren, Guy Phillips of Canton, Tiffany (Christopher) Sigrist of Canton, Carissa (Blake) Monroe of Farmington, Drake Niepoetter of Los Angles, and Seth Niepoetter of Edwardsville; great-grandchildren, Amelia Monroe, and Marleigh, Parker and Dillon Sigrist; sisters, Mildred Fechtler of Henderson, and Ruby Miller of Centralia; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Along with his wife, Barbara, Henry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bert Martin; sister, Catherine Seats.

Henry was the owner, operator of Salem Electric Motors, where his talent was greatly appreciated by countless satisfied customers. He was a sports enthusiast who will be remembered for his love of sports. Henry enjoyed watching basketball and cheering on Duke, his favorite team. He liked to catch a good boxing match from time to time too. Henry was the life of the party, a social butterfly whose contagious personality had everyone drawn to him. He never met a stranger, worked hard to do a job right, was generous, kind and will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to have him in their lives.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Pastor Larry Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Central City. Relatives and friends are welcome at the visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home in Sandoval. Memorials may be made in Henry’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
