Obituary

Jeffrey D. Rovenstine, 58, of Centralia passed away Friday, December 24, 2021. He was born on May 27, 1963, the son of Loren D. and Ruth E. (Friend) Rovenstine in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He married the love of his love and best friend, Ronda Jo Galassini on December 31, 1982, in Centralia and she survives him in Centralia.

Along with his beloved wife of 38 years, Ronda Rovenstine, Jeff is survived by his parents, Loren and Ruth Rovenstine of Bartlesville Oklahoma; his children Matthew Rovenstine of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and AJ Franklin and husband Bob of Centralia; his precious grandchild, Jaleigh; his brother, Steve Rovenstine and wife Jennifer of Overland Park, Kansas; sisters-in-law, Peg Rovenstine, and Cheryl Harre and husband Wayne; his nieces and nephews, Trenton Rovenstine, Mason Rovenstine, Shaina Dyer and husband Eric, Luke Rovenstine, Cooper Rovenstine, Alanna Rovenstine, Wendi Harre and fiancé John Kubiak, and Jordi Jackson and husband Dave; and his special cousin, Ruth Bierman and husband Randy.

Jeff was preceded in death by his twin brother, Les Rovenstine.

Jeff was a dedicated, protective family man who made sure to put his family’s needs before his own. He was a loyal employee, working for 22 years as a correctional officer, before retiring as a lieutenant for the Centralia Correctional Center. He was generous with his time and loved to help others, serving on the Centralia Fire Protection District for 22 years. He was a faithful member of City Hope Church in Centralia. He had a strong faith and wasn’t shy to share with others how his faith had been the center of his journey in life. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix, and he would not hesitate to put his skills to work. Jeff enjoyed his time spent outdoors, feeding his birds, and trying out his luck with a good game of golf. He had a love for basketball and tried never to miss his favorite team, the fighting Illini shoot some baskets. Jeff was a big dreamer and believed there wasn’t anything that a person couldn’t accomplish. He had a soft spot for his sweet grandchild, Jaleigh, making sure to spend fun, quality time with her and spoiling her with his love. Jeff always put his family first, had a kind, compassionate heart for those in need, and was loved greatly by everyone that knew him.
