Jeffrey Alden West

Jeffrey Alden West, 66, of Centralia passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023, at his home. He was born on July 7, 1957, the son of Jack and Nancy (Long) West in Waukegan.

Survivors include his sisters, Karen West of Lebanon, Illinois, Terry Frontzak of Lake Villa, Illinois, Susan Umdenstock of Marion, Illinois, and Megan (Edward) Hollowell of Vandalia, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Nancy West.

Jeff was a welcome face and an extremely active member of City Hope Church in Centralia, where he compassionately met the needs of those struggling with addiction. He was instrumental in starting City Hope’s NA group, sharing his experiences as he had been active with AA and NA for 23 years. Jeff will be remembered as one of the St. Louis Cardinal’s biggest fans and he followed his favorite Nascar driver, Jimmy Johnson even after Jimmy had retired. He was a true animal lover and adored his cat, and fur baby, Miss Kitty, spoiling her with her favorite, a bowl of ice cream every night. Jeff made everyone feel comfortable and at ease. He would offer help with rides and took time to plan special parties and picnics for his fellow AA and NA members. Jeff had a kind, compassionate heart, and the support he shared with others will continue in his honor.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the City Hope Church Cafe. Memorials may be made in Jeff’s honor to the Donor’s Choice and will be accepted for the family at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia.
