James Earl “Jim” Lance, 81, of Centralia passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at his home. He was born on March 21, 1945, in West Frankfort, the son of Glenn and Virginia (Lewis) Lance. He married Sandra French on March 5, 1983, in Centralia and she survives him in Centralia.
Along with his beloved wife of 42 years, Sandy Lance, survivors include his step-son, Chad Allen Finley-Lance and wife Ellen of Marshall, MO; 2 grandchildren, Jada Rae Finley-Lance, and Jace Lance; sister, Sue Ellen (Charlie) Bone; brother-in-law, Larry (Phyllis) French; special friend, Mike Brow; and beloved pet, Molly Girl.
Jim served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He graduated from St. Louis School of Pharmacy. He enjoyed his work as a pharmacist until his retirement. Jim had a hobby of searching for treasures at auctions, antique stores, and craft fairs. Jim had a green thumb, growing flower and vegetable gardens and working in his yard. He was an avid sports fan who liked to watch events on television, especially horse races. Jim will be remembered as a man who loved his family and generously helped anyone in need.
