Joanna J. Van Horne

Joanna J. Van Horne, 83, of Belleville passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024. She was born on November 25, 1940, the daughter of Robert and Joanna (Pscion) Howard in Michigan City, Indiana. She married George Van Horne on June 14, 1963, in Salem, Illinois and he survives her in Belleville.

Joanna is survived by her children, Greg Van Horne, Renee Reed (Lyle Lindsey Reed), Aaron Van Horne all of Belleville and Eric Van Horne (Laura Van Horne) of Centralia; 4 grandchildren; Malorie (Reed) Pons (Kevin Pons), Belleville and Wyatt Van Horne, Waylan Van Horne & Wade Van Horne, Centralia and 2 great-grandchildren; Avery and Hudson Pons.

Joanna was preceded in death by her parents and sister Roberta (Howard) Behymer.

Joanna was a faithful and committed Jehovah’s Witness since 1975 and attended meetings at the Kingdom Hall in Belleville.  She taught 5th grade special education at Wamac Grade School.  She valued family time and enjoyed managing a booth at the local antique mall.  She sailed many a cruise and was fond of traveling and dancing with the love of her life, George. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall in Belleville on Sunday, August 25th at 5:30pm. Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia is privileged to be assisting the family of Joanna Van Horne with arrangements.
