John Eric Barton Sr.

John Eric Barton Sr., 63, of Odin passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022. He was born on September 2, 1958, the son of Buhl Ray and Sallee Melinda (Ruble) Barton in Centralia. He married Barbara Hodge, his one true love in the fall of 1975, 3 children were born to this union, and they later divorced.

Survivors include his beloved family, children Mitchell Barton and wife Amy of Ozark, Alabama, John Eric Barton Jr. and wife Lynette of Baytown, Texas, Melissa Barton and fiancé Travis Miller of Marion, Illinois; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother Jeff Barton of Centralia; sisters Millie Gilson and husband Rob of California, Carrie Mork and husband Ken of Arizona, Patty Marshall and Arthur Stanford of Iuka, Priscilla Finley of Sandoval; mother of his children Barbara Harnois of Alabama; special niece Amanda Finley and Jason Wageman of Odin; and several more nieces, nephews, and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Mitch Barton, and Michael Barton.

John enjoyed building in his occupation as a carpenter and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do to get the job done right. He had an eye for vintage treasures and liked to collect antiques. John had a love for westerns, reading about, and watching the great cowboys in movies. He had a passion for music that he passed along to his children. He liked a day spent outdoors, hanging out with family and friends, growing beautiful gardens, and being appreciative of his work being outdoors. John will be remembered as a grandpa that liked to have fun with his grandchildren. He was loved and respected by his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life service will be held by the family at a future date. Memorials may be made in John’s honor to the Irvin Macz Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses.
