Larry Hodge Obituary

Larry Don Hodge, 73, of Centralia passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. He was born on May 12, 1952, in Centralia, the son of Gerald Leon and Phyllis Joanne (Adams) Hodge. He married Jean Alice McCoy, and she preceded him in death on August 7, 2016.

Survivors include his beloved family, daughter, Angie K. (Hodge) Davis, spouse Mark Davis of Centralia; son, J.D. Hodge and spouse, Sara of Centralia; grandchildren, Blade Ridge, Raquel Davis, Christian Nollman, and Chloe and Creed Hodge; great-grandson, Beau Mueller; mother, Phyllis Hodge; brother, Randy L. Hodge of Centralia; sisters, Tammy Hodge of Centralia, and Hildy Smith of Centralia; and many extended family members and friends.

Along with his wife, Jean Hodge, Larry was preceded in death by his father, Leon Hodge; brother, Terry Hodge; and grandson, Logan Matthew Mueller.

Larry served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He looked forward to a day of hard work as a loyal employee of McCoy Cable Telecommunications. He did find time to relax while out fishing and his skilled casting had him catching fish after fish. Larry anticipated the coming of hunting season each year, always ready for time spent in the woods. He was a master story-teller, sharing hilarious tales that would have everyone laughing. Larry was a character who was larger than life. He was a caring and supportive Dad, Grandpa, Son, Brother, and Friend, who everyone loved, and everyone was grateful to have in their lives. All were drawn to Larry’s one-of-a-kind personality, natural charisma, and playful sense of humor.

A celebration of life service will be held at Calvary Apostolic Church 281 South Locust Street Richview, IL 62877 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 19, 2025, where relatives and friends can share good memories and offer words of condolence to his family.
