Leo Francis Murphy, 84, of Patoka passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022. He was born on October 11, 1937, the son of Joseph and Mary Julia (Piezuch) Murphy in St. Louis, Missouri. He married the love of his life Linda Sue Huffman on June 17, 1995, in Boulder and she survives in Patoka.
Along with his devoted wife of 27 years, survivors include his beloved family, children Diane Lee Murphy of Wisconsin, and Scott Lee (Kathryn) Murphy of St. Louis, Missouri; 5 grandchildren Colum, Ian, Jamie, Brian, and Henery; and brother Bob Murphy of Missouri.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary Cibulka; brothers Anthony Murphy, and Bernard Murphy; and brother-in-law Hap Cibulka.
Mr. Murphy was proud to be of service to his country in the United Stated Navy, where he was honored to serve until his retirement from the Navy. He had a deep sense of love and respect for his country and a duty to protect and honor the United States of America. Leo served alongside his United Stated Navy brothers, giving one-hundred and ten percent at all times. He was a member of the Patoka American Legion Post 543. He enjoyed quiet time reading through the pages of a good book. Leo was a man of honor, well respected, loyal, and kind. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends who will keep his spirit of patriotism and support forever in their hearts.
A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka with Rev. Kevin Kriesel officiating. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2022, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri, where military rites will be accorded to honor Mr. Murphy’s years of service to his country. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation time from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka.
