Lucy Danae Mays, infant daughter of Dustin Mays and Kayla Whitney was tenderly carried to Heaven on Sunday, February 25, 2024. She was welcomed into the world at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, surrounded by the love of her family on this same day.
Along with her parents, Dustin Mays and Kayla Whitney, Lucy will lovingly be remembered by her siblings, Zoey, Daimen, Gracelyn, Paisley, Ava, and Emmy; paternal grandparents Margarita and Jerry Mays of Shobonier; paternal great-grandparents, Jerry and Sue Mays of Shobonier; maternal grandmother, Deana Erwin of Shobonier; and maternal great-grandmother, Cleta Schoreck of Salem; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Lucy was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Carl Flanagan; paternal great-grandfather, Randy Vollintine; paternal great-grandmother, Georgina Llorens; aunts, Karley Flanagan, and Kristy Mays Hawk; uncle, Jerry Dean Mays Jr.; and her cousin, baby Zach Hawk.
Lucy’s beauty captivated her family, and she filled their hearts with everlasting love. She was precious, a wonder to behold, a perfect angel baby. Lucy experienced tenderness, complete belonging, and a love so strong it will never end.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2024, at Vernon Cemetery in Vernon with Pastor Richard French officiating. Memorials may be made in Lucy’s honor to her family and will be accepted at Macz Funeral Home 234 South Elm St. Centralia, IL 62801.
