Mary Lowry Obituary

Mary Jo (Dagg) Lowry, 77, of Centralia passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021, at her home. She was born on December 16, 1943, the daughter of Vern and Georgia (Kingston) Dagg in McLeansboro. She married John Lowry on August 11,1990, in Orchardville and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2019.


Survivors that will remember Mary’s loving support of her family include her children, Del Wilkins and wife Debbie of Texico, Ronda Thomas and husband Greg of Centralia, Les Lowry and wife Pam of Arizona; stepchildren Annette Callen and husband Scott of Iowa, and Wayne Lowry and wife Rita of Iowa; grandchildren Katrina Shelton and husband Kyle, Angela Burris and husband David, Amanda Oswald and husband Michael, Courtney Wilkins, Josee Brown and husband Corey, Mallory Wilkins, Trayton Lowry; great-grandchildren Chloe, Kaysie, Robert, Ava, Madison, William, Claire, Caroline, Campbell, Crosby, Addison, Kale, Heather, Katelyn, Amy, Alex, Elora, Brayden, and Austyn; brothers Leland Dagg, Bill Dagg and wife Connie, Dale Dagg, Bob Dagg and wife Chris; sister-in-law Peggy and husband Doug Gibson of TN


Along with her husband of 30 years, John Lowry, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert Wilkins Jr.; and siblings, Judy Roach, Doris Johnson, Sena Daulton, and Delano Dagg and wife Nadine; and sister-in-law Esther Dagg.


Mary was a loyal employee at Warren G. Murray Center in Centralia where she worked as a Health Technician until her retirement. She was an avid traveler and never missed an opportunity to visit new, beautiful destinations. Mary loved to listen and tap her toe to good gospel music. She was a kind, supportive grandmother who loved to go and be a part of her grandchildren’s lives as she was so proud of each of them. She was an amazing hostess, opening her home to family and friends. The times that brought Mary the most peace and joy were the times she spent with her family making treasured memories that would last a lifetime. Mary will be deeply missed and never forgotten.


Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia is privileged to be assisting the family of Mary Jo Lowry with arrangements. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Paula Comper officiating. Interment will follow at Jacobs Chapel in Orchardville, IL. Friends are welcome to a visitation time to offer condolences to Mary’s family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Mary’s honor to the Jacobs Chapel Cemetery and will be accepted for the family at the funeral home.
