Mary Ellen McKee

Mary Ellen McKee, age 82 of Centralia, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Heritage Woods in Centralia,Illinois.

Mary was born on April 18, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Ira Gilmore Brooks and Esther (Finkbiner) Brooks. 

She is survived by her six children, Anthony Jordan and wife Reba of Camden, Tennessee, Terry Jordan of Tennessee, Tammy Parker of Tennessee, Frank Szarek II and wife Christina of Hoffman, Illinois, Spencer Szarek of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Danny Szarek of Bonnie, Illinois; grandchildren, Andrew Tyler Szarek, Taylor Nicole Keele, Zephanie Szarek, Stephen Szarek, Christopher Jordan, Raedan Szarek, Gavin Knolhoff, Holden Asencio, Leah Hulin, Kaylee Szarek, Mason Szarek, Michael Hooten, Kayla Hooten, Austin Hooten, and Jacob Hooten; sister, Jane Edward of Opdyke, Illinois; and a special friend, Zed Zortman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Trina Dawn Szarek; two brothers; three sisters; and a grandson Frankie Szarek III.

Mary was of the Baptist Faith.  She enjoyed crafting, puzzles, fishing, Wii bowling and rooting on the Chicago Cubs.  She enjoyed her time and friendships made at Heritage Woods. 

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Old Union Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.  Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery.  Memorial donations can be made to the family and can be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia who is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences can be left at www.moranfuneralhome.net
