Mary Metzger

Mary Metzger, 59, of Centralia passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born on September 21, 1965, the daughter of Eugene and Joan (Rhynes) Hutson. She married the love of her life, Marty Metzger on May 14, 1992, in Salem; they later divorced, but remained life-long friends. He preceded her in death on November 18, 2022.

Survivors include her daughters, Allie Gregory and husband Austin of Centralia, and Tabitha Jentsch and husband George of Irvington; precious granddaughter and light of her life, Madisyn Jentsch; sister-in-law, Dody Ray of Centralia; many nieces; and several special friends.

Along with her life-long love, Marty Metzger, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Joan Hutson.

Mary was a loyal employee of Little Fuse in Centralia for many years, where she appreciated the friendships she made there, who became her second family. She later became a respiratory therapist, working various other jobs along the way. Mary was an amazing provider, working 3 or more jobs at a time at certain points in her life, always putting her family’s needs above her own. She loved to cook, always having enough food to feed an army and no one ever went away from her table hungry. She enjoyed time outside, tending her vegetable garden and soaking in the sunshine lounging by the pool and relaxing on her porch. Mary was the best example of an ever-present Mom and proud loving, Grandma, extremely active in her daughters’ and granddaughter’s life and giving Madisyn all the love her heart could hold.

A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Minister Janis Burns officiating. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation time 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Mary’s honor to the Kidney Foundation or to the Irvin Macz Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
