Maxine Hamburg, 97, of Centralia passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023, in Saginaw, Texas. She was born on July 15, 1926, the daughter of Charles and Ola (Boem) Flowers in Centralia. She married Jerry Hamburg on June 7, 1942, in St. Charles, Missouri and he preceded her in death on August 27, 1991.
Survivors that will hold dear memories of Maxine include her son, Mike Hamburg and wife Laura of Texas; her grandchildren, Jeff Hamburg, Debi Dillon, Jennifer Ward, Mellany Holloway, and Scott Leavitt; 15 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene Edwards of Centralia; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, Jerry Hamburg, Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ola Flowers; sisters, Wilma Hake, and Willa Lindsay; brothers, Charles “Bud” Flowers, and J.W. Flowers; and her son, Brett Hamburg.
Maxine was a lovely lady who loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. She had a contagious, welcoming personality and never met a stranger. Maxine worked in sales at a shoe store where she always had a warm smile for all her customers. She was a loyal friend, making sure to offer a wise word of advice when needed or a kind listening ear. As the heart and soul of her family, Maxine enjoyed hosting get togethers and keeping close family bonds. She was a proud, loving mother and grandmother, supporting her family in every way she could and leaving them with precious memories of laughter and love.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia with Chaplain Joannie Naraghi officiating. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation time from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Maxine’s honor to the Centralia Humane Society.
