Michael Bellemey Sr. Obituary

Michael Bob Bellemey Sr., 68, of Wamac passed away, surrounded by the love of his family, Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at his home. He was born on June 21, 1954, the son of Margie (Todd) Ulrey, stepfather Joe in Centralia. He married Rebecca Comper on September 28, 1974, in Central City and she survives him in Wamac.

Along with his devoted wife of 48 years, Michael is survived by his mother, Margie; his sons, Michael Bellemey and wife Tracy (Detmer) of Aviston, Brian Bellemey of Wamac, Todd Bellemey and wife Mary (Lambert) of Harlan, Iowa; grandchildren, Samuel, Alexis and David Bellemey, and Holden; special aunt, Shirley Smith; uncle, John Todd; sisters-in-law, Melanie Forehand and husband Larry, and Paula Comper; brother-in-law, Rob Comper and wife Elisa; nieces and nephews, Sabrina Runyon, Tabitha Henson, Stephen Tensmeyer, Amelia Comper, and Carol Comper, ; and a host of cousins, extended family members and friends.

Mr. Bellemey was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nancy and Bob Comper; stepfather, Joe Ulrey; sister, Crystal Groff; grandparents who held a special place in his heart, Ed and Evelyn Todd, and Horace and Sarah Todd; aunts, Kay Todd, and Ruth Todd; and uncle, Jim Smith.

Michael was a man of integrity, grit, and had a strong work ethic. He started his working career at Hollywood Brands Candy Factory in Centralia. He later was a loyal employee for World Color Press in Salem. Michael finished his career at Johnson Controls. He was a member of the Sandoval Gun Club where he made many friendships. Michael was of the Baptist faith and attended the First Baptist Church in Centralia. He was an avid outdoorsman, appreciating any time he could spend enjoying the beauty of nature. Michael will be long remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a faithful friend.

A celebration of life service will be held at a date in the future, with burial at Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Central City. Memorials may be made in Michael’s honor to Centralia Humane Society and will be accepted for the family at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia.
