Patricia Ann (Guinther) Towler, 90, of Greenville, Il passed away Friday, May 17, 2024, at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, IL. She was born on March 19, 1934, the daughter of Earl and Kathryn (Giardina) Guinther in Joliet, IL. Due to the loss of her mother at 6 months old, she was raised by her grandparents in Wilmington, IL and graduated as valedictorian of her high school class of 1952. She married Donald Towler, of Patoka on June 28, 1952, who preceded her in death on May 15, 1981.
Pat has left behind her legacy with her two daughters, Teresa Towler of Greenville, IL, and Brenda Flowers and husband Don of Springfield, IL; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Earl Sande Guinther of Crandon, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her beloved husband, Don of 28 years, Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Kathryn Guinther along with her stepmother, Lorine Guinther.
Pat was a farm wife and homemaker for many years. Widowed at 47 age she attended Kaskaskia College obtaining her associate degree in 1984. She was employed at the Community Resource Center in Centralia and Vandalia’s Residential Services as a mental health aide for 27 years.
Pat enjoyed collecting cookbooks, she was known for helping others and spending time with her family. She loved music, especially Frank Sinatra but her favorite past time was reading. Pat had a real passion for reading and a love for books.
Pat was a faithful member of the Patoka United Methodist Church until moving to Vandalia, IL. Her later years she resided at the Glenwood Living Community in Greenville, IL.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Patoka United Methodist Church in Patoka with Pastor Darryl Bolen officiating. Interment will follow at Pratt Cemetery when Patricia will be laid to rest next to her husband Don. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation time from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church in Patoka. Memorials may be made in Pat’s honor to the Evans Public Library in Vandalia, Pratt Cemetery in Patoka, or the Patoka Public Library.
