Phyllis Blunt Obituary

Nora Phyllis Blunt, 95, of Centralia passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis. She was born on June 22, 1930, in Sandoval, the daughter of Melvin and Florence (McClelland) Austin. She married the love of her life, Wayne Blunt, and they share many wonderful years of marriage before his passing.

Survivors that will remember Phyllis’ generous spirit include her son, Brent Blunt and wife Amy of Williston, SC; granddaughters, Lesha Hiatt, and Shana Truman and husband Bob; great-grandchildren, Gage Lawson, Chloe Hiatt, John David Hiatt, Anne Marie Truman, and Chandler Griffin; daughter-in-law, Sherry Redmond and husband David; those that called her grandma, Tracy Page and husband Kelly, and their children, Xander and Natalie, Trent Swagler and wife Shanda, and their children, Dexter and Xada, and Heather Lambert and husband Kenny and their children, Drakeland and Tatum.

Along with her husband, Wayne Blunt, Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Florence Austin; and her son, Mark Blunt.

Phyllis was a faithful member of the First Apostolic Church in Centralia, where she shared her talents and gifts with her grateful church family. She served as church secretary, her wonderful attention to details helping everything run smoothly. Phyllis’ husband, Wayne served as assistant Pastor for the church with Phyllis right by his side, supporting him completely. She had a musical talent of playing the upright bass, making worship service a joyful experience each Sunday. Phyllis also worked at First State Bank of Centralia, where she always had a kind smile and friendly hello for everyone. She liked to watch television in her down time, especially enjoying Perry Mason and Days of Our Lives. Phyllis had a welcome, inviting home where everyone gathered, knowing they would be taken good care of, and they never left hungry. She was the epitome of a lady who lived her life to serve others. Phyllis had the most kind, compassionate heart, was a natural caregiver, and loved her family immensely.

A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Jonathan Urshan officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to a visitation time from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home in Centralia.
