Richard “Rick” A. Gelsinger, 68, of Kinmundy passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family, at Odin Health Care. He was born on September 2, 1957, in Breese, the son of James and Delores May (Gizzy) Gelsinger. He married the love of his life, Daisy McElyea on April 15, 2000, in Sandoval and she survives him in Kinmundy.
Along with his wife of 25 years, Daisy Gelsinger, survivors that will remember Rick’s great love for his family include his children, Jesse (Sarah) Gelsinger of St. Peter, Donna (Christopher) Nelson of Sandoval, Jeremy Gelsinger of Vandalia, Chad Gelsinger of Centralia, and Curt Gelsinger of Centralia; the apples of his eye, his grandchildren, Kayson, Zena, Gunner, Gatlin, Liza, Dusty, Ezekiel, and one on the way; his father, James (Alice) Gelsinger; his siblings, Jimmy Gelsinger, George Gelsinger, Mike Gelsinger, Elizabeth Gelsinger, and Sally Cooley; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family members, and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Delores May Gelsinger; and his siblings, David Gelsinger, and Bobby Jo Gelsinger.
Rick was hard-working, funny, kind, and appreciative of his life’s greatest blessing, his family. He looked forward to days spent fishing for anything that would bite, hoping to bring a large mess of fish home. Rick was quite honestly, the St. Louis Cardinals’ biggest fan. He faithfully followed the team, which probably was the secret to the Cardinals’ success. His family made his life sweeter day by day, and Rick cherished quality time with his loved ones, especially his grandbabies, who brought him so much joy.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Pastor Sam Hester officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home in Sandoval.
