Richard “Rick” Spencer Jr., 63, of Salem passed away Friday, January 5, 2024, at his daughter’s home in Centralia, surrounded by his devoted family. He was born on January 8, 1960, the son of Richard Sr. and Nona Kay (Jones) Spencer in Salem.
Survivors who will remember Rick as the “rock” of his family include his mother, Nona Kay Spencer; his children, daughter, Sara (John) Myers of Centralia, and son, Ryan Spencer of Centralia; grandchildren, Liliana, Oliver, Matilda, and Zoey; brother, Troy (Darlene) Spencer of Salem; his special Friday night buddies; the mother of his children, Tina Quick; and extended family members, and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Richard Spencer Sr.
Rick was proud to provide for his family through his hard work as a loyal employee of World Color Press in Salem, working as a press operator. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Rick enjoyed time spent out in the woods, looking for signs of deer activity while deer hunting and heading out every spring to search for the first morel mushrooms. Rick liked the challenge of catching a mess of fish from his favorite ponds, hoping the bluegill, bass, crappie or catfish would be biting. He was active in his training of martial arts, achieving the rank of Master. Rick was a great friend who looked forward to spending his Friday nights around the poker table with his good buddies. Rick will be remembered as a loving son, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend.
