Robert Houser Obituary

Robert "Bob" Earl Houser, 72, of Centralia passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Odin Healthcare.

Bob was born on July 7, 1953, the son of Waldo "John" Howard and Charlotte Cora

(McDonald) Houser. Following the loss of his parents, he was lovingly raised by his Aunt and Uncle, A.T. and Martha McCrary.

He was a 1971 graduate of Carlinville High School. In his younger years, Bob worked as a laborer at a nuclear power plant in Texas and later in Florida. He went on to spend many years working as a laborer for the railroad, traveling across the country.

He ended his career with the RR transporting workers off the train to back home. A true free spirit, Bob never met a stranger and leaves behind memories of his humor, generosity, and unwavering heart.

Bob was a man of deep faith, having read the Bible cover to cover many times. Bob's true legacy was dedicating his life to leading others through AA and NA. A proud and devoted member of the recovery community, Bob celebrated 37 years of sobriety, a testament to his remarkable strength and determination.

He believed no one should have to go

through their journey alone. From providing rides to meetings and a listening ear, he shared his strength and hope with countless individuals, offering encouragement, wisdom, and a steadfast example of perseverance. His life was guided by faith, kindness, and compassion, and he never missed an opportunity to share Jesus, a laugh or lend a helping hand.

Bob is survived by his cherished daughter, Brandy Marie England (Eric) of IL; three granddaughters, Karley Elliott of KS, Brittney McNaughton (Tyler), and Jersey Drew; one great-grandson, Jaxon McNaughton all of IL; three brothers, Ralph Houser (Marsha) of OK, Wayne Houser

(Vickie) of IL, and Dr. Brad McCrary (April) of KS; sister Tollelyne Ray of IL; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Waldo "John" and Charlotte Houser, and A.T. and Martha McCrary; brothers James Houser, William "Bill" Houser, John Houser, and an infant brother, Gerard Houser.

Bob's memory will be forever treasured by the family and friends who loved him dearly.
