Rose Mary Shopinski, 73, of Centralia passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Bryan Manor in Centralia. She was born on July 22, 1951, the daughter of Mike and Alma (Green) Shopinski in Ashley.
Survivors include her sisters, Gloria Durr and husband Ron of Centralia, and Linda Hazel of Kentucky; many nieces and nephews; her dear friends, Pauline Glenn, and Missy Knolhoff; and her best friend, Ronda Ziffel of Georgia.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Alma Shopinski; and her brother, John Shopinski.
Rose was a faithful employee at JJ’s Buffet in Centralia, where she kept all their dishes sparklingly clean. She always had a welcome smile while working at Kaskaskia Workshop, keeping the rest area off Interstate 57 in tip top shape, and she also cleaned houses for grateful homeowners. Rose enjoyed working at Woolworth’s Harvest House Restaurant, where she made the day brighter for the people eating a good meal there. Rose’s beautiful laugh and witty sense of humor brought joy to everyone. She was sweet, loyal, friendly and called everybody “hun”. Rose had a great affection for music, and she loved to dance like no one was watching. Rose was kind and considerate, a true friend who will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Rev Paula Comper officiating . Interment will follow at Union Brick Cemetery in Ashley. Friends and relatives are welcome to the visitation time from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home in Centralia.
