James Samuel “Sam” Foshee, 79, of Patoka passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles, Missouri. He was born on September 20, 1943, the son of Coy and Ruby Nora (Walls) Foshee. He married Dixie Schaubert and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son Joe (Sarah) Foshee of Galt, Illinois; grandchildren, David Williams, Nathan Williams, Jeremiah Foshee, and Matalin Book; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn; sister, Carletta Jones; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Along with his wife, Dixie Foshee, Sam was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ricky Foshee, Shirley Rosness, and Jerry Foshee; and his daughter Jackie Foshee.
Sam was a talented welder, fabricator by trade, welding for the Mill and able to fix anything for grateful family and friends. He liked working on auto-mechanics and enjoyed the satisfaction of getting a vehicle back in working shape. Sam was known to be an excellent competitor while driving in dirt car races. He knew the value of taking care of your home and took pride in keeping his yard and garden looking pristine. You never saw Sam without a smile on his face or without the punchline of a good joke. He had the best sense of humor and his teasing made everyone laugh. You just couldn’t be in a bad mood when he was around. Sam loved his family dearly and was especially thankful to be a caring Grandpa and Papa for his grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held by the family at a future date. Memorials may be made in Sam’s honor to the Donor’s Choice and will be accepted for the family at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka. Online condolences and memories of Sam may be shared with his family by visiting www.maczfuneralhomes.com and/or on the funeral home’s Facebook page. Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka is privileged to be assisting the family of Sam Foshee with arrangements.
