Sharon Faye Emilia Britt, 76, of Patoka passed away Monday, April 17, 2023, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. She was born on April 1, 1947, the daughter of Albert and Eileen (Rietz) Helbig in Belleville. She married the love of her life, Larry Britt on July 23, 1967, in Stone Church, Illinois and he survives her in Patoka.

Along with her devoted husband of 55 years, Larry Britt, Sharon is survived by her beloved family, son, Leslie (Angela) Britt of Patoka, Illinois; daughters, Jennifer (Roy) Markham of Galax, Virginia, Angela (Jeff) Bathon of Coulterville, Illinois, and Alison (Blake) Nebergall of Patoka, Illinois; grandchildren, Madison Karrick, Makayla Karrick, Parker (Jeremy) Jones, Landon Britt, Trey Markham, Adelyn Markham, Leah Bathon, and Anna Bathon; sisters, Sandra Mondt, and Alberta (Jerry) Powell; brother, Larry Helbig; sisters-in-law, Lois (Bill) Hill, Betty Britt, and Pam Helbig; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Shirley Helbig; her brothers, Ronald Helbig, and Dennis Helbig; sister-in-law, Jane Conrad; and brothers-in-law, Charles Britt, Jimmie Britt, and Bob Mondt.

Sharon was a beautiful lady with an admirable, unshakeable, Christian faith. She was a member of the Patoka Christian Church where she served the Lord graciously in countless ways for many years. She served as VBS teacher, shared song leader duties, and was a great encourager to all her church family. Sharon enjoyed quiet times reading and studying the bible. She had a green thumb, growing and nurturing bountiful gardens every summer. Sharon was an amazing cook and baker, and her family always looked forward to seeing what she had in the cookie jar. She was a Weight Watcher leader for 25 years in Centralia and its surrounding areas. Sharon was a skilled seamstress and was privileged to be able to sew each of her daughter’s prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and wedding dresses. Sharon was a wonderful example of perseverance, gentleness, kindness and love and her legacy will continue in the lives of her children and grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Patoka Christian Church with Pastor John Klockenga and Minister Seth Schnautz officiating.
