Rochelle “Shelley” Harmening Carder, 63, of Centralia passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at her home. She was born on August 7, 1962, in Centralia, the daughter of Donald and Phyllis (Crouch) Harmening.
Survivors that will remember the way Shelley made everyone feel loved include her mother, Phyllis Harmening of Centralia; her children, Shannon Queen and husband Jeremy of O’ahu, Hawaii, Stefanie Arteche and husband David of El Paso, Texas, and Wayne Dersch and wife Michelle of Oceanside, California; grandchildren, Paris, Jaydon, Jaxon and Jordan Queen, Aliany and Archer Arteche, Eleanor, Walker and Sovay Dersch; brother, Trent Harmening and partner, Dana Potts of Quincy, Illinois; a niece; and numerous cousins and friends.
Shelley was preceded in death by her father, Donald Harmening.
As a child, Shelley attended Trinity Lutheran Church with her family, where she was a lifelong member. Growing up, she could often be found on the ballfield, hitting softballs with ease, thanks to her Dad’s experienced guidance. Shelley was a proud graduate of Centralia High School, Class of 1979, where she made lasting friendships. She served the community of Centralia, working as a billing specialist for St. Mary’s Hospital and Bryd Watson Pharmacy until her much deserved retirement. Shelley had a soft spot for animals, grateful for the company of dogs and cats, and compassionately feeding her neighborhood strays. She had an eye for beauty, growing colorful flower gardens to bring a touch of coziness to her home. Travel certainly appealed to Shelley’s adventurous spirit, and she especially loved to visit her children as often as possible. Becoming a “MeMe” was by far Shelley’s greatest achievement and she loved her grandchildren with all her heart. Shelley was a wonderful lady who will be remembered for her kind heart, her loyalty, her courage, her sense of adventure, her laughter and her love. All are deeply saddened by her passing and will honor her by continuing to live life to the fullest, just as Shelley did.
A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Rev Chris Spenner officiating.
