Shirley Daniels Obituary

Shirley Ann Daniels, 95, of Patoka, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Odin Health Care Center in Odin. She was born the daughter of Marvin and Adeline (Schmitz) Collins on July 12, 1926, in Overland, MO.  She married Robert M. Daniels on March 2, 1946, in Clayton, MO and he preceded her in death in March of 1983.

Survivors include her beloved family, children Mark Daniels and wife Judy of Patoka, and Susan Hill of Salem; grandchildren Lenora Foster (Chuck) of Salem, Marjie Woodward of Salem, Hollie Thomas (Kevin) of Centralia, Candace Hensley (Chris) of Centralia, Frank (Camille) Davis of Mt. Vernon, Jocilin Pierce (Ryan) of Central City, Malachi Davis of Patoka; great-grandchildren Lindsay, Hanna, Heidi, Shade, Adielynn, Zandi, Brock, Cabrien, Gracie, Breez, and Cadence; great-great-grandchildren Zyler, Zander and Miles; sister Norma Wagner and husband Gene of Sullivan, Missouri; and brother-in-law Gene Meyer of Florissant, Missouri.

Along with her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Lorraine Meyer; and her granddaughter Jessica Davis.

Shirley was a kind compassionate lady that thought of others needs before her own. She was the rock of her family, always the first to offer support, encouragement, and love. She was a member of the Patoka Christian Church and enjoyed attending services there. Shirley was no stranger to hard work and preferred to keep busy as opposed to sitting around. She kept their antique store running smoothly, worked at the post office, all while making her home a comfortable, welcome place for family and friends. Shirley loved nothing more than to spend quality time with her family. She had a huge heart for her grandchildren and was blessed to help raise them. She was an amazing cook, and everyone loved her beautiful daffodil cake that truly was a labor of love to make. Shirley was a proper lady, respecting others, lending a listening ear, and helping anyone in need.
