Shirley Miller Obituary

Shirley J. Miller, 77, of Sandoval passed away Friday, December 2, 2022, at her home. She was born on November 27, 1945, the daughter of John and Theda (Ziesch) Cummins in Marion County. She married David Miller and they later divorced. 


Survivors include her children Sheila Martinez and husband Ray of Sterling, Illinois, Robert Miller of Sterling, Illinois, Serena Miller-Green and husband Scott of Orion, Illinois, and Shawn Norris of Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren Anthony, Adrienne, Allison, Kayli, and Logan; 4 great-grandchildren Cayden, Maverick, Sophia, and Brecken; brothers John Cummins and wife Violet, Mick Cummins and wife Patty, and Richard Cummins and wife Christy; sisters Darlene Goodin, and Tonja Davis and husband Terry; special friends Carlene, Millie, and Boog and Kendall Walker.


Shirley was preceded in death by both her parents; sisters Jolene Flanigan, and Virginia Norris; brother Wesley Cummins; and infant son Larry. 


Shirley had a love of cooking and worked in the food service industry. She liked to share her love of cooking by making big meals to enjoy with family and friends. Shirley had a warm and welcome home and was always working to keep her house clean and tidy. She had a creative eye and was known to bedazzle and add jewel applique to her crafts. Shirley had quite the angel collection that she was proud of and liked to display. She made many special friendships over the years, and she was grateful for the fun times they had together. Shirley was the picture of hard work, generosity and love for her family who will be deeply missed but never forgotten.


A celebration of life service was held by the family on December 4, 2022. Memorials may be made in Shirley’s honor to the Donor’s Choice and will be accepted for the family at the Day Macz Funeral Home 224 S. Elm St. Centralia, Il 62801.
