Sue Dagley Obituary

Sue Roi Dagley, 87, of Centralia passed away Monday, February 26, 2024, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois. She was born on November 20, 1936, the daughter of Fred and Dorothy (Bolerjack) Desper in Omaha, Illinois. She married the love of her life, Hobart “Mickey” Dagley on June 18, 1953, at Union Ridge Church and he preceded her in death on August 25, 2019.

Survivors that will hold dear memories of this lovely lady include her devoted children, Terry Dagley and wife Vicki (Gutzler) of Centralia, Kylene (Dagley) Hoelscher and husband Larry of Centralia; cherished grandchildren, Bridget (Dagley) Laswell and husband Gary of Las Vegas, Corey Dagley of Eureka, Missouri, Caleb Hoelscher and wife Cassidy of Edwardsville, and Caitlin (Hoelscher) Geisler and husband Michael of Troy; precious great-grandchildren, Chance Laswell, Layne Laswell, Dawson Dagley, Gracelyn Geisler, Cooper Hoelscher, and Grady Geisler; special nephew, Jimmy Desper; and extended family members and friends.

Along with her husband of 66 years, Mickey Dagley, Sue was preceded in death by both her parents, Fred and Dorothy Desper; and her brother, James Lee Desper and wife Jean.

Sue and her husband Mickey owned and operated Dagley Transit for 25 years, where they learned the value of working side by side to grow the success of their business. An avid reader, Sue enjoyed a long afternoon curled up in her favorite chair with a good book. She had a heart for animals of all kinds and appreciated the companionship of her pets. Sue was the backbone of her family, was generous with her talents and time, showed kindness and consideration to everyone she met, and her amazing presence, in the lives of those who loved her, will be deeply missed.
