Tristan Lewis Brooks, age 38, passed away peacefully at home on 25 June, 2025 in Dickinson, Texas.
Born on 18 March, 1987 in Centralia, Illinois, Tristan was a kind and gentle soul with a sharp wit and a deep love for strategy and imagination. He found joy in board games, video games, and the camaraderie that came with them. Whether plotting his next move in a tabletop campaign or exploring digital worlds, Tristan valued the stories, laughter, and connections that games brought into his life.
Tristan lived a quiet, thoughtful life, marked by curiosity, loyalty, and a deep sense of empathy. He was a cherished son, a beloved brother, a loyal friend, and someone who always had time to listen, share a laugh, or help plan the next side quest.
He is survived by his parents, Malaina Hudson of Dickinson, Texas; his father and bonus mom, Charles and Kathy Brooks of Centralia, his sisters and brother-in-law, Brenna Mathis, Katherine Krupp, and Whitney and Andy Wadkins, as well as 2 nieces and 4 nephews who will remember him for his intelligence, his wry humor, and the laughter he brought to their lives.
Tristan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Doreen Brooks, Edward Houston, and Patricia Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tristan’s memory to Pratt Cemetery. Any memorials will be accepted for the family at Macz Funeral Home 234 S Elm St. Centralia, IL 62801.
Tristan’s memory will live on in the stories we tell, the games we play, and the love he gave so freely.
