Vicky Morris Obituary

Vicky Lee “Vic” Morris, 71, of Patoka passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022, surrounded by the love of her family at her home in Patoka. She was born on October 14, 1950, the daughter of Carroll Gene and Mary Elizabeth (Wadkins) Meyer in Centralia. She married Milton Morris on November 10, 1979, in Mt. Vernon and he survives in Patoka.

Along with her husband of 42 years, Milton Morris, survivors include her beloved family, daughter Mary Ann Hinkel and husband John of Patoka; grandchildren Dustin Carbaugh and wife Kelly, Alisha Lewis and husband Seth, Omer Despres III and wife Marry, Brianne Donaldson, Clinton Donaldson and special friend Kaitlyn Bates, and Austin Hinkel; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings Lisa Duff of Vera, Ilinois, Terry Clements and wife Paula of Patoka, and Bill Meyer of Centralia; half-sisters Shelly, and Angie; aunt Margie Orrell of Patoka; special friends Jackie Orrell, Donna Altenbaumer, and Shelley McDowell; and many nieces and nephews.

Vicky was preceded in death by her father Carroll Meyer; her mother Mary Clements; brother Gary Meyer; half-brother Ricky; 2 daughters Heather and Melody; great-grandson Jack Carbaugh.

Vicky was a proud alumni of Patoka High School Class of 1969 where she made lifetime friendships. She was a woman who “wore many hats” and there wasn’t anything she couldn’t do. Vicky was a loyal employee of World Color Press in Salem. She owned and operated her own restaurant, Vic’s Place in Patoka. She was a voice of encouragement to the students at Bronson School in Centralia while working as a cook, and bus aid. Vicky also shared her compassionate heart and gift of taking care of others while being a home health caregiver for grateful clients, helping them to stay in the comfort of their home. She was known to many as the psychic from Patoka.

Vicky was a forty-three year member of Alcoholics Anonymous and never hesitated to share her story to uplift anyone struggling with addiction. She was a member of the Women of the Moose. She never met a stranger, having a warm smile and a kind word for everyone she met. Vicky was a true treasure hunter, going to yard sales and thrift stores in search of a good cookbook. She had a lifelong love of cooking, sharing her delicious meals with family and friends, and customers that frequented her restaurant. Vicky grew beautiful vegetable gardens and made sure to can their fresh flavors to be savored through all seasons. She was especially famous for her tasty sun pickles that everyone looked forward to each canning season. Vicky took every opportunity to bring joy, comfort, and peace to anyone she could, always putting others needs before her own. Vicky was a treasure to her family, friends, and community and she definitely left a mark of generosity, compassion, kindness, and love.
