Wes Cain Obituary

Harold Wesley “Wes” Cain, 87, of Patoka passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Fireside House of Centralia. He was born on October 15, 1934, the son of Harold V. and Marcella E. (Knutt) Cain in Keyesport. He married Mila Caudle and they later divorced in 1976. He later married Flora Payne and she survives.

Survivors include his children Mike Cain and wife Carol of Patoka, Tracy Cain and wife Mary Jane of Patoka, Terri Reed and husband Robert of Shattuc, Stacy Hood and husband Gary of Patoka; grandchildren Samantha Reynolds and special friend Todd Parke, Jake Cain and wife Nicole, Emily Cain, Shelby Headley and husband Andy, Stephanie Altizer and husband Tony, Alicia Barker and husband Garrett, and Clinton Hood; 7 great-grandchildren; and brother Larry Cain and wife Joyce.

Wes was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Marcella Cain.

Wes was raised on his family’s farm where a strong work ethic was encouraged and from the age of 9 he was an important part of the dairy farm. These skills, that were learned at such a young age, paved the perfect path for Wes’ own dairy farm that he ran with his family. He enjoyed country living and liked to check out the countryside on his four-wheeler. He liked to spoil his best friend, his dog Sadie, with treats and attention. He listened to Joe Doll’s farm report on WGEL every day at 12:30 and lived by his quote “Every day is a good day, just some are better than others.” Wes will be remembered for his protective love for his family, and the way he never shied away from hard work.
